The Borough is in the heart of Downton, Wiltshire. The proposal is to create a new build house to the rear of the family’s existing house and business.
The key design driver for the project is to create a contemporary design with a high consideration and influence from the traditional aesthetic the village has. This is to ensure that the scheme has a clear and strong relationship to its surrounding context.
This project was completed in 2019.

‘We interviewed architects in 2012 and went with footprint architects because of their enthusiasm, design approach and competitive fee.
They have skilfully guided us through a complex planning position where we have obtained consent for the conversion of our existing house into a dental surgery, extensions to the surgery and finally a new build house in the garden of the surgery.
The design they have came up with for the new house is a well-considered contemporary house that is contextual and exceeded our expectations. Their approach gave careful consideration to the difficult site constraints including – proximity to our neighbours, the conservation area and the issues of building a house within a floodplain and enabled us to gain planning consent.
They have supported us throughout and we would recommend them without reservation.’ – Client
